Description

This synopsis is issued for information and planning purposes only. The 89th Contracting Squadron Andrews AFB MD is seeking information on a Vehicle Arresting System. The Government is soliciting information to determine the availability of capable contractors who can provide such a system. The Vehicle Arresting System must meet the following requirements: The barrier for the gap must: 1) Be capable of stopping a 15,000 pound vehicle traveling at 50 MPH; 2) Must span 250-feet of taxiway without any intermediate supports; 3) No alterations to the taxiway concrete is permissible; 4) must be capable of being raised and lowered in 5 minutes or less by one person; 5) Must be operated without commercial power. Contractors responding to this synopsis must be able to demonstrate proof that their product can withstand above criteria (undergone some testing or real life experience where product has been used elsewhere) and provide average yearly maintenance cost. This request is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government is not obligated to pay for any information resulting from this Request for Information.
