Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. DESCRIPTION: This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quo tations are being requested and a written solicitation will NOT be issued. The solicitation number is W912P5-05-T-0011, and is being issued as a request for quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in eff ect through Federal Acquisition FAC 97-19. This is an unrestricted acquisition. The NAICS Code is 235210. SPECIFICATIONS FOR BARKLEY DAM DRAFT TUBE GATES GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Barkley Dam is located at river mile 30.6 above the mouth of the Cumberland River in Western Kentucky. The Dam is adjacent to the town of Grand Rivers, KY along State Highway 62, The Dam is comprised of, from west to east, a Western E mbankment section, Navigation Lock, 12 Spillway Gates, a Powerhouse, and an Eastern Embankment. The Draft Tube section is made up of 12 slots, each slot requires 2 gates for un- watering purposes. The gates are installed using a Draft Tube Gantry Crane. Ea ch Gate is 20 feet 6 inches wide and 12 feet 2 7/8 inches tall. The project includes enough gates to un-water one generator (6). The gates are interchangeable and may be placed in any slot. Access to the draft tube area is best from the generator floor. H owever, access can also be gained from the eastern side of the powerhouse on an outside walkway. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Draft Tube Gates at Barkley Power Plant are in need of repairs due to rusting and corrosion of steel plates and members. Removal of rust and debris and applying primer and paint are required in accordance with the specifications in cluded herein. SPECIFICATIONS: Services provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 1. Position each gate to the northeast comer of the dam in the support 2. Provide necessary supports to hold gates in place during the painting process. 3. Provide a crane and operator to lift the gates and rotate as necessary during the painting process. 4. Provide roll off box for debris disposal. 5. Move each gate back to its proper slot location in the dam. 6. Dispose of paint residue including the lead based paint residue. Provide labor, materials, supplies including paint, to clean, sandblast and paint draft tube gates (bulkheads) located at Barkley Dam power plant. There are six bulkhead gates, and each gate is 20 6 X 12 2 7/8. The government will remove the gates from service and place them in a metal frame for preparation and painting. The frame will be located in the parking lot adjacent to the power plant. The contractor shall contain all blast residues. The government will dispose of blast residue. All work shall be completed within 60 days from the Contractors notice to proceed.
