Accordingly, SAMHSA Administrator Curie has made older adults a priority at SAMHSA; the agency is working to advance understanding of the relationship between aging and substance use disorders, and to provide practical information for incorporating our understanding into treatment services. There is a compelling need to provide support to initiatives and activities that focus upon the substance use disorder treatment needs of older Americans.
