Description
NAICS Code: 541990 The Sustainable Technology Division (STD) of the National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL), Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking a college student to provide services under a contractual agreement to assist with the development of a chemical process simulation computer program. The student contractor must have completed a B.S. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering environmental science, environmental engineering, or computer science/engineering within the past year or be a graduate student in a relevant area of study at an accredited college/university. The student must be familiar with computer programming using the C++, Visual Basic, or C# programming language. The student contractor will assist in the creation of a computer program that will enable users to estimate the quantity of wastes generated by a chemical process, determine possible environmental effects that may result from discharge of the waste, and identify possible options to reduce both the quantity of wastes and the likely environmental impacts of its discharge. The student will be expected to write computer code that will be incorporated into the computer program using the C++, Visual Basic, and/or C# programming languages. This work is to begin approximately on September 1, 2005 and end approximately August 31, 2007. The initial contract will be for one year with an option for an additional 12 months. It is anticipated that the student contractor will work an average of 20 hours per week. The majority of the work will be Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The duty location is Andrew W. Breidenbach Environmental Research Center, 26 W. Martin Luther King Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45268. Work will be primarily performed in an office setting. The hourly rate of pay is commensurate with the level of education and experience, as follows: $13.19/hr for students who have completed at least two (2) years of undergraduate study, $14.75 for a BA/BS, $18.28 for a BA/BS with 1 year of Grad school, 22.36 for an MA/MS, 27.06 for PhD pre-doc, $32.42 for a Post-Doc. Students contractors will be paid the basic hourly rate only for the number of hours worked and do not receive overtime premium for any hours worked beyond the 40-hour week. Non-U.S. citizens may be eligible to participate, depending on their immigration status and the applicable regulations of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service (BIS), formerly known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Students who perform under contract for EPA are required to undergo a background check, check of FBI fingerprint files and a suitability determination by the Environmental Protection Agency. Copies of the RFQ will be available shortly after August 3rd, and will be distributed by the internet only at the following address http://www.epa.gov./oam/cinn_cmd/ To receive a copy of the RFQ, please consult this site or contact Mr. Matthew Growney, Contracting Officer, via e-mail at growney.matthew@epa.gov.
