This is not a request for quotations and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the equipment should identify themselves and give written capabilities to be able to provide a product with comparable functionality. The capabilities of the system must included the following: 1. The system must provide accurate sperm concentration utilizing nuclear stains to ensure background debris is not counted a sperm. Fluorescent stains, like Hoechst stains have proven to be the most reliable, thus system will need to utilize fluorescent optics. A playback feature is essential for quality control to demonstrate that only sperm are being counted. 2. The system must provide an accurate tracking of sperm motility including the most rapid sperm. This is achieved by integrated strobe illumination. The motility assessment must include the percent of motility sperm and the average curvilinear and straight-line velocities. A playback feature is essential for quality control to demonstrate that all motile sperm are being tracked. 3. The system must provide an accurate assessment of sperm size and shape. A morphometric measurement of the sperm head length, width, area, and perimeter must be made. Utilizing these measurements, the system must classify the cells into a morphology scheme. A display of the sperm cell and the area being measured is essential for quality control. This display must have an edit feature for misclassified cells. 4. All data from the sperm analysis system must be in an exportable format for statistical analyses in traditional programs such as SAS and Excel. This information must be submitted to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of the publication date of this announcement. Reference #000HCC93-2005-24396.
