Description
Under authority of FAR 13.106-1, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on sole source basis a contract with Statens Serum Institute, 5 Artillerivej DK2300, Copenhagen, Denmark. The contractor shall provide but shall not be limited to the following services: Shall provide research of immune-pathology associations with antibodies to PSA capsular polysaccharide of Neisseria meningitidis group B. Shall investigate and provide research as to whether women with previous GBM infections have an increased waiting time to pregnancy (TTP) as a measure of early spontaneous abortions. Shall investigate and provide research as to whether women with previous GBM infections have an increased risk of spontaneous abortion and stillbirth. Shall investigate and provide research as to whether children born of mothers with previous GBM infections are at increased risk of infant death and hospital admittance because of neurodevelopmental disorders compared to children born of mothers with previous infection with other serogroups of meningocci and the background population. Shall investigate and provide research as to whether persons with previous GBM infection have an increased risk of hospital admittance due to autoimmune disease compared to persons with previous infection with other serogroups of meningococci and the background population. Shall investigate and provide research as to whether persons with previous GBM infection are more prone to have had a blood sample taken to analysis for autoimmune markers compared to persons with previous infection with other serogroups of meningococci and the background population. Shall investigate and provide research aas to whether persons with previous GBM infection show evidence of increased risk for autimmune disease as indicated by biological assays compared to persons with previous infection with other serogroups of meningococci and the background population. Shall have access to the records of at least 3,000 confirmed cases of GBM to be used in the study. Shall analyze the data using multivariate regression models, and incidence rate ratios shall be estimated with adjustment confounders such as age, sex, calendar time and birth order. It is the government?s belief that these requirements can only be met by The Statens Serum Institute. The Statens Serum Institute is unique in that it has at it?s disposal the retrospective and prospective clinical studies of patients with this relatively rare infection. Study cohorts of this type are very difficult and expensive to assemble. The Northern American Industry Classification System Code is 62151. The estimated period of performance is 12 months. This is not a formal solicitation, however, concerns that respond to this notice must furnish concise responses directed specifically to the requirements mentioned above. Sources demonstrating the capability to accomplish the above shall supply pertinent information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to perform. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform a proper evaluation. Respondents will not be notified of the evaluation results.
