Description

The National Park Service at the Statue of Liberty National Monument is issuing a solicitation (Request for Quotation - RFQ) for the design and implementation of a program for a baseline data collection relating to physical and environmental conditions at the Statue of Liberty National Monument, New York, NY. Data desired for collection generally includes copper skin thickness, surface temperature, and time of wetness measurements, as well as ambient air temperatures and relative humidity. The solicitation and any attachments will be posted to the Governmentwide Point of Entry (GPE) website, http://www.fedbizopps.gov on or about August 5, 2005. The NAICS 2002 code for this project is 541330 with a size standard of four million dollars, ($4,000,000.00). The copper skin of the Statue of Liberty is slowly eroding as a result of natural copper patination processes. To better understand these processes and to attempt to quantify the rate of copper loss on the Statue, additional documentation is currently being compiled. One key aspect of this effort is to establish an existing condition baseline, and to lay the infrastructure for monitoring ongoing rates of development. The contractor shall be responsible to institute protocols, design and install appropriate systems, and conduct an initial round of measurements.
