Description
THIS IS A SOURCES/INFORMATION SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. THE SOLICITATION NUMBER FOR THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS 797-SNS-05-04 The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is considering issuing a solicitation for the environment (i.e. bar-code laser scanners, label printers, etc.) required during and after an upcoming implementation project. Background The Oracle applications (release 11.5.9) that have already been implemented include Federal General Ledger, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Management, Bill of Materials, Fixed Assets, Warehouse Management System, Project Accounting, Work-in-Process, and Order Management / Shipping Execution. Key business activities within DSNS supported by Oracle applications include: -Receiving, storing and delivering medical assets to the site of a national emergency -Moving product between sites based on latest deployment plan -Monitoring all product expiration and damage; rotating product nearing expiration with fresh product -Configuring, storing, and maintaining various mission specific packages -Auditing inventory and procedures -Procuring, receiving, storing and maintaining new product from formulary -Performing required financial management activities At this point, the high level requirements for the CDC agency's Bar-coding Environment are listed below: -Indoor-only in temperature controlled warehouse environment -Portable barcode laser scanners utilizing Radio Frequency (RF) -Oracle certified devices for use with Oracle Applications Devices extendable to support Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) -Portable and desktop label printers (RF enabled, RFID upgradeable, portable, fixed station) -Solution needs to support semi-rugged use -Solution needs to withstand a 4' drop to concrete floor -Scanning from 1' to 40 feet -Solution needs to support multiple bar code formats -Portion needs to function in cooler/fridge environment -30C -Portion needs to allow for remote connectivity -Accessories (i.e. batteries, holsters, charging devices, mounting brackets, miscellaneous cables, warmers, wedge scanners, etc.) In support of the project and requirements mentioned above, CDC is looking for what information is available on the following: -Available Devices that are capable of supporting the above requirements and compatible with existing Oracle applications. -Operating Characteristics - Battery Life, Weight, Ruggedness, Screen Size, Frequencies, Ergonomics, Ease of Use, etc. -Warranty -Support Options / Service Level Agreements (access points, hardware, support / maintenance agreements) -Installation -RF Survey (options) -Previous experiences where you've enabled customer to pilot, test, and validate their solutions Between now and the time the DVA determines if a solicitation will be issued it reserves the right to do the following: -Request vendor to participate in a site visit at CDC (200 E. Ponce de Leon, Decatur, GA 30030), and have the vendor provide a presentation. These scheduled presentations will be conducted between August 4th And August 17th. Presentations will be limited to 60 minutes and will be allowed 30 minutes for set up prior to presentations, and 30 minutes after presentation for presentation breakdown. CDC may require also require a vendor site visit. The Government will not pay for the provision of any information nor will it compensate any respondents for the development of such information or any costs associated with providing presentations at the CDC site. Said presentations shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to contract for product/services. -Hold preliminary discussions with responsible interested respondents -To approach other known sources -Conduct technology showcasing sessions to build its knowledgebase -To expand government requirements once market capability is verified THIS IS NEITHER A REQUEST FOR FORMAL PROPOSAL OR A PRESOLICITATION NOTICE, BUT IS PROVIDED AS INFORMATION TO THE MARKETPLACE AND IS AN INVITTION FOR AN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST AND DEMONSTRATION OF CAPABILITY TO PROVIDE WORK/EQUIPMENT TO MEET THE PROGRAMS OBJECTIVES.
