Description
The Government requires VRLA submarine battery sets in stainless steel trays. This requirement includes one each Seawolf battery set, five each Los Angeles class battery sets, and two each Ohio Class battery sets. The Seawolf battery set consists of two strings of 120 cells, with 120 ?B? cells and 120 ?C? cells. Twelve spare cells (six ?B? cells and six ?C? cells) in trays are required for the SEAWOLF battery. The Ohio class batteries consist of three strings of 132 cells/string, all ?C? cells. The Ohio class batteries will require 18 spare ?C? cells in trays. The five Los Angeles class batteries will consist of two strings of 127 cells/string, all ?C? cells. Twelve spare cells in trays will be required with each Los Angeles class battery set. A parts box will also be procured for each battery set. A firm-fixed price contract is anticipated. The Ohio class battery sets are required by 10/01/6. The Los Angeles class battery sets are required by 09/01/06, 11/! 01/06, 01/09/07, 01/09/07, and 03/01/07. The Seawolf battery set is required by 01/10/07. The Seawolf battery will be delivered to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNSY), and the Ohio class batteries will be delivered one each to PSNSY and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY), and the Los Angeles class batteries will be shipped two each to PSNSY and two each to PNSY with the location of the fifth battery to be determined. Inspection and acceptance of the batteries will be at origin and delivery will be FOB destination. The applicable NAICS Classification is 335911 and the size standard is 500 employees. The Navy intends to solicit and negotiate this contract on a sole-source basis with Exide Corporation, d/b/a Exide Technologies, Aurora, IL based on FAR 6.302-1, only one source capable of meeting the Government?s requirements. See Numbered Note 22.
