- Description
- NASA/MSFC has a requirement for 1 Explorer SPM with 100-microscope Scanner. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Veeco Metrology Group PO Box 1109 Plumsteadville, PA 18949 for the delivery of an Exploreer Scanning Probe Microscope with dry and liquid 100 micron Scanner, Vibration Isolation Table and Monitor with two Days Installation & Training Onsite. 1. This Microscope is a direct replacement for existing AFM (Atomic Force Microscope) in the XD32 Optics and Coating Lab. AFM will be used immediately for the High Energy Xray Observatory. Delivery of product is scheduled in October for a Fall 2005 flight. Veeco is the only source for the tripod AFM capable to accept samples of any size and mass with Z scan range larger than 8 micron. The existing AFM cannot be repaired because the manufacturer is out of business and replacement parts are no longer manufactured. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m., CST, on August 5, 2005. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
