Description

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Structure Probe, Inc. for the purchase of one (1) Osmium Plasma Coater, Model OPC-80T and miscellaneous accessories. *** Osmium Plasma Coaters are the only commercialy available instruments that have a US Patented concept for the deposition of fine structureless and featureless thin film coatings on surfaces for applications in electron microscopy, especially for those who are using a Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope. NIST requires an Osmium Plasma Coater for the highest resolution work for samples of the end-of-the-roadmap integrated circuit technology and for imaging and dimensional metrology of various nano-technology samples, including biological smaples. This patented technology provides the thinnest possible coating over otherwise charging samples. Structure Probe, Inc. is the sole source supplier of the complete line of Osmium Plasma Coaters. They have no distributors/ re-sellers of these products. These products must be purchased directly from them. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 10, 2005.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
