- Description
- Under an expedited Commercial Item solicitation, the Rio Grande National Forest proposes to reduce hazardous fuels and improve big game winter habitat by thinning with a hydroaxe approximately 1500 acres by means of an hourly hydroaxe contract. The project will reduce the density of small diameter vegetation in the 1? to 2? size class. Stubble height of the treated vegetation will be less than 8?. Dominate vegetation in the majority of the project units will Pinon and Juniper trees with some brush species present such as mountain mahogany and rabbitbrush. Trees to be treated will consist of a mixture of sizes (1? to 12?) in order to leave a variety of age classes remaining on site in a mosaic pattern.
