Description
This will be a single award, Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) task order contract for professional forestry services for the management of vegetation on the Bighorn National Forest. The management activities include, but are not limited to; leave tree mark units (LTM), individual tree mark units (ITM), and group selection units (GS). The end results required under this contract are to layout, mark, cruise, post and GPS to the standards included herein and to the standards stated in the Timber Cruising Handbook (FSH 2409.12) and in the Government?s Quality Assurance Plan. Contractor will be given identifiable tasks including, but not limited to; a. Gathering resource data by conducting field investigations, such as stand examinations and forest inventories, and compiling data into reports (electronic and hardcopy), which may be used by the Forest Service in the NEPA planning process; as well as b. The layout of vegetation management units; designating cut or leave trees; cruising for gross and net volume; designating sensitive areas, such as cultural resource areas, wildlife trees, and streamside management zones, and sensitive plants; as well as boundary marking. Project areas may be reached by forest roads that are accessible by standard pickup during the normal operating season (May 15 through November 15). Foot travel to and from areas 0.5 to 1.0 miles will be common, with some exceptions up to 2.0 miles. Occasionally distances in excess of 1 mile will be required. Seasonal road closures may necessitate scheduling by the Contractor in order to obtain access to the area. District Travel Maps are available for purchase from the District. Roads located behind CFR closures will require permission for vehicle access, although permission may be denied. Roads behind closures will not be maintained by the Forest Service for vehicle travel.
