- Description
- The Department of the Navy, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego, CA intends to award a firm fixed price modification to a sole source purchase order issued to Sporian Microsystems, Inc., 4699 Nautilus Court South, Boulder, Colorado. The purpose of this action is to purchase ten (10) additional custom hermetically sealable electronic packages to house the Micro- electro-Mechanical Ultra Sensitive Accelerometer (MEMS USA) device. This custom package will allow for subsequent handling of the accelerometer during environmental and electrical evaluation. The package includes a Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSWEL), a thermal electric cooler (TEC) for temperature stabilization, and a thermistor for temperature monitoring and will use a commercially available TO-8 header. Use of any other contractor would result in extensive cost and delays necessary to redesign, fabrication and assembly the custom package. The cost and delays by bringing in other contractor would not be recovered through competition. Authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Award will be made in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The NAICS code is 334419, and the Size Standard is 500 employees.
