- The United States Marine Corps (USMC), Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) PM Optics and Non-Lethal Systems (ONS) is sponsoring an Electro-Optics Industry Conference to be held 19-20 October 2005, at the Clubs of Quantico. The Program Manager ONS and the Optical Systems Team Leader will present a brief on the Marine Corps? Optics Technology Roadmap and current and future programs to all interested parties the morning of 19 October 2005. The period of 1200, 19 October through 2300, 20 October is reserved for Industry responses and live fire and field demonstrations of products. The proposed agenda is attached. Please respond to the Contracting Officer, Major Hollen at (703) 432-3568 or richard.hollen@usmc.mil and carbon copy Marjorie Hazen at (703) 640-1010, x103 or mhazen@columbiaresearch.com with names of attendees, a description of the products/technology that are to be briefed and/or demonstrated, and desired primary and alternate briefing and live fire/demonstration times. A final schedule with event times and locations will be published to all responders on 7 October. Vendors will be allotted one fifty-minute time block for briefs and one thirty-minute time block for live fire and field demonstrations. Vendors should tailor their briefs and product demonstrations towards individual hand-held, helmet and small-arms (to include crew-served weapons) mounted day and night vision optical systems. Although briefs on current technology will be allowed, Optical Systems is primarily interested in future material solutions beyond the currently fielded technology that will satisfy day/night/reduced visibility optical requirements over the next ten years, to include electronic image intensifiers, thermal imagers, digital sensor fusion technology, short wave infra-red, real-time image processing, wireless image sharing, and miniature eye-piece displays. All briefs shall be unclassified. Demonstration of prototypes is encouraged! . Briefs concerning airborne, vehicle-mounted systems, or systems not relevant to infantry missions will not be entertained. The Marine Corps Panel will consist of representatives from MARCORSYSCOM, Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC), Marine Corps Test and Evaluation Activity (MCOTEA), and Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC). The panel will only address issues regarding requirements clarifications. That information will be incorporated into any future solicitations. Questions, comments, and general responses should be submitted to the Optical Systems Contracting Officer, Maj Hollen no later than 1630, 5 October 2005.
