Description

NOAA, NMFS, Northwest Fisheries Science Center requires assisting with determining the sublethal effects of pesticide formulations on the physiological function of juvenile Pacific Salmon. Work to include: assist with the development of new experimental methods and reagents that can be used to diagnose endocrine disruption in juvenile salmon, as appropriate molecular cloning work and the development and validation of real-time PCR assays for measuring transcriptional changes in the gonads and other tissues. Period of performance 09/01/2005-12/31/2006. NOAA intends to award this contract on a sole source basis to University of Washington, School of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (SAFS), Dr. Evan Gallagher. Dr. Gallagher has 20 years of professional experience working in aquatic toxicology, including previous project of the same nature with NOAA, with a focus on studying the biochemical and molecular mechanisms of chemical toxicity in freshwater and marine fish. He has published over 40 papers in this area of research. Therefore it is in NOAA?s opinion that Dr. Gallagher is the only source who possesses this unique combination of abilities, experience and expertise which is required to complete this project in the timeframe proposed. All responsible parties may submit a bid or proposal to this office. This is a Simplified Acquisition estimated not to exceed the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.
