Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the Materials and Construction Research Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1), with Metris U.S.A, Inc. of Rochester, MI for preventative maintenance service for MV-2000 Laser Radar System. *** Sole source determination is based on Metris U.S.A, Inc. being the sole manufacturer and provider of the MV-2000 Laser Radar System. Therefore, Metris U.S.A. is the only source that can provide preventative maintenance for this equipment, as the technology is proprietary to the company. Metris U.S.A. does not allow other companies to provide such a service. ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219, and the size standard is $6 M. ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however, responses received by August 16, 2005 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
