Description
1)POD, Field Data Collection System, Qty. 1 Each 2)Automatic Point Dendrometer, Qty. 6 Each 3)Automatic Band Dendrometer, Qty 3 Each. Product Specification Requirements: Accurate measures of intra-annual incremental tree growth is necessary for validating forest growth models used in risk assessment. Manually read band dendrometers are being used currently to provide such data in Pacific Northwest forests. However, a major factor in interpreting these data is the influence of the bark tissues on seasonal changes in basal area. To resolve this uncertainty, a combination of automatic band and point dendrometers are needed: the point dendrometers provide a measure of all tissues. Bark changes are determined by difference. A series of automated point and band dendrometers linked to a common Data Collection and Analysis System (the POD) is required in order to resolve the complex time-series data streams. In order to meet our scientific requirements outlined above, the following technical requirements for the automatic point and band dendrometers are as follows: (1) Band Dendrometers shall be able to measure radial growth in Coniferous trees with diameters between 50cm adn 500cm. (2) Both Dendrometer styles shall have a resolotion of 2mm or better and shall have a measurement range of 15mm. (3) Dendrometers shall output data signals that can be read by a single datalogging system that operates off 12 VDC, has RS232 data output capability and shall store data using non-volatile memory.
