Description
NASA/GRC has a requirement for An Automated Bottom-Loading 1700C Box Furnance. The following specifications apply: The furnace shall be stationary with an electical-mechanical screw lift mechanism A thermal cycling package with built-into fan to cool the test specimens when the pedestal is down shall be provided. This package shall include a thermocouple probe for the bottom loading mechanism, a cooling fan, and a temperature controller to control the testing via time or temperature. The power supply shall include a microprocessor-based programmable controller capable of at least four programs. The controller must operate in conjunction with a phase-angle fired SCR power controller. The power supply must include a step-down transformer with an ammeter on the secondary side. Power shall be 17kW minimum at 208/240V, 60hz, 3 phase service. Independent over-temperature protetion shall be provided. At least 10 feet of cable to connect the furnace to the power supply shall be provided. The furnace inner dimensions shall be essentially cubic and a minimum of 15" X 15" X 15" and a maximum of 18" X 18" X 18". No dimension of the inner chamber shall be less that 12" or greater than 18".The inner chamber shall be constructed using individual replaceable insulation pieces for the walls, roof and floor segments. The outer portion of the furnac eshall employ a double stainless-steel wall construction with fan cooling between the walls.. The heating elements shall be Super KANTHAL 1800 molydisilicide, and have a maximum continual operating temperature of 1700?aC in air. THe heating elements shall hang straight down The offeror shall be a recognized manufacturer of laboratory furnaces This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing to Irene.Cierchacki-1@nasa.gov no later than Friday, August 19, 2005, 4:30pm EST. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B".
