Description
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is seeking a prime source for satellite multimedia server equipment. The equipment would be used to operate a private in-store radio, in-store television, and business television network delivered by satellite, and controlled from the AAFES headquarters. Market research has indicated that the equipment listed in Exhibit D is the only proven and widely accepted solution currently available on the market that fully meets AAFES requirements. The equipment must be equivalent in capability to Exhibit D, Specifications. The prime source must provide a low end satellite receiver with storage for radio and a high end satellite receiver /media server with storage for video on a Multiple Channel Per Carrier (MCPC) platform. Both high end media server and low end receiver must operate on the same network control software package. The video unit must have two A/V outputs for connection to the in-store television and BTV, plus a 10/100 Base T Ethernet connection, and both units must be of similar dimension, power requirements, etc to Exhibit D. The manufacturer must be a leader in the retail industry, first quality, have equipment on the market for at least two (2) years. The hardware solution must currently be installed as standard equipment in a major retail operation. Any prime source manufacturer that can fully meet AAFES requirements may submit their equipment data sheets comparable to Exhibit D and information regarding the location and scope of their installed systems to moonb@aafes.com not later than 26 August 2005. Resellers or distributors are not desired. Offers for demonstrations and/or vendor meetings are not invited at this time. Determination of technical acceptability of the proposed equipment is at AAFES sole discretion.
