Description
The National Institutes of Health Pharmacy Department Intravenous Admixture Unit(IVAU) intends to procure serivces for the preparation of Total Parenteral Nutritional Solutions . These nutritional supplements will be administered to NIH patients unable to ingest food by mouth. The main objective of the IVAU is to accurately compound and dispense sterile intravenous admixtures to NIH patients on a timely and cost-effective basis. These supplements are not available commercially and must be prepared according to each patient's individual need. The Pharmacy Department would like to procure services of a contractor able to meet this critical need performing all necessary task to provide a safe and effective TPN therapy. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary labor,material supplies, equipment and services(except as otherwise specified herein) and perform the work set forth. A firm fixed-price performance -based contract is contemplated. The Government anticipates the total life of the contract shall not exceed 60 months. The base period of performance will be 12 months from the date of award. Thereafter, the contract shall be renewable as provided in FAR 52.217-9,Option to Extend the Term of the Contract. This solicitation will be issued as full and open competition. The National Institutes of Health anticipates that the RFP will be available on or about September 7, 2005. The closing date will be on or about October 19,2005. This requirement will be awarded using the procedures prescribed under FAR part 15, Contracting by Negotiaiton.
