- Description
- The purpose of this Sources Sought is to obtain information from potential sources that feel they are capable of meeting a US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) need for a Man-Portable X ray Generator as described herein. This request is for a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) item or an item that would require limited/minimal improvements. USSOCOM is looking for companies that have developed and produced a COTS Man-Portable X Ray generator that would meet the following required minimum (threshold) criteria: Total system weight of less than 50 lbs; ability to penetrate 2 to 3 inches of steel from a maximum stand off distance of 6 feet to view 18 gauge wire; operate continuously on self contained commercial batteries for 10 to 20 minutes; 120 to150 mr/sec minimum; operate in -220F to +1240F. Other desirable (objective) requirements include: Total system weight of less than 25 lbs; penetrate 3 inches of steel from a distance greater than 6 feet to view 18 gauge wire; continuous operation longer than 20 minutes on self contained commercial batteries or DOD batteries and external A/C 110/220v and DC. USSOCOM seeks the above described generators from worldwide sources, as well as any potential candidates in current Government programs (US or foreign). USSOCOM intends to review product literature, test data, and methodology used to support claims of ability to meet described criteria. Based on the results of this market survey, further acquisition may ensue and will be synopsized accordingly. Responses to this market survey are due on or before 12 September 2005 and must include a product description with performance parameters and a statement regarding current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, summary of logistic and maintenance requirements and an estimated cost for the price of test articles and production units. The above product information in addition to the name of your firm, address, POC, phone/fax number, and email address should be sent to kumad@socom.mil, (813)828-1948. Mailing address is: US Special Operations Command, ATTN: SOAL SP/PM CP (David Kuma), 7701 Tampa Point Blvd, MacDill AFB, FL, 33621. This synopsis does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by the government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information solicited.
