- Description
- The US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service in Parlier, Ca. has a requirment for a Cryotransfer System for a Hitachi S3500-N Scanning Electron Microscope. The system should have a large enough Dewar to privent the operator from constantly having to refill the Dewar. The metal coating device should be the "gol" type and should be able to last for a large number of speciment coatings. Gold depositing should be controlled by the operator to allow for optimal specimen coating. The cryofixation by plunge freezing in mitrogen slush, the cryofracturing, and the gold sputter coating should all take place under a vacuum, in a cryohamber which can be mounted on the side of the microscope. This will help prevent the specimen from being exposed to the atmosphere after it has been frozen. The system should have a binocular view to alow the operator to align the fracture blade with the specimen and afterward be able to see if the cryfracture occured in the desired plane or if another fracture must be made. This feature is very important if the number of specimens is limited. An RFQ can be obtained by mail or fax to the attention of Saul Garcia as listed in this notice.
