Description

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Albany, California has a requirement for a DNA high-throughput Peltier thermal cycler with 4 bays which can be controlled independently and handle at least 1,536 reactions simultaneously. Must have real-time monitoring of cycling temperatures, gradient capability, well-to-well temperature uniformity of +/-0.4 degrees C within 30 sec of arrival at 90 degrees C (+/-0.5 degrees C for dual-block Alpha units) and have average temperature across sample block within +/-0.3 degrees C of NIST standard at 90 degrees C. Shall have thermal range of 0 degrees C to 105 degrees C and rapid ramp rates of up to 3.0 degrees C per sec. Unit contains an onboard Pentium-class computer that delivers graphical interface, Windows operating system-based software, up to 8 individual sample blocks which can be controlled independently or as a group. Also, alpha unit with hot bonnet heated lid which holds one 96-well V-bottom plate or 96 x 0.2 ml tubes; 4 each.
