Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina has a requirement to purchase and install a Sonitrol intrusion detection system. This requirement also includes the follow-on security monitoring service. The VA intends to procure this requirement on a sole source basis in accordance with the statutory authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The VA intends to negotiate a firm fixed-price contract with Sonitrol Security Service Inc., 815 Wood Ridge Center Dr, Charlotte, NC 28217. This intrusion detection with integrated access control and digital video surveillance/recording system must be compatible with the existing Sonitrol security system employed at the VAMC ? Durham. The NAICS code for this procurement is 561621 with a projected award date of August 29, 2005. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES and no solicitation will be issued; however, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the contracting officer within 7 days from the date of the publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirement listed. If no responses are received, the government will proceed to negotiate a sole source agreement. Responses are due by August 25, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. (EST). A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
