- Description
- NOAA, Alaska Fisheries Science Center, requires (2) Taps-8 Bioacoustical sensors for Bering Sea mooring. This must include: (2) calibrated TAPS-8 zooplankton acoustic detection instruments, one set of battery packs, two sets of batteries and cables, pre and post cruise calibrations, documentation on communications and instrument set-up protocols, etc. NOAA intends to award this purchase order on a sole source basis to BAE Systems Applied Technology. Dr. Holiday and Mr. Charles Greenlaw are the inventors of the TAPS-8 system and it has only been found to be available from BAE Systems. The Alaska Fisheries Science Center has used this system for the past 4 years, with it performing excellently with unmatched reliability and has used instruments built by BAE for the past 15 years. Therefore it is in NOAA?s opinion that BAE Systems is the only responsible source. All responsible parties may submit a bid or proposal to this office. This is a Simplified Acquisition, not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition Threshold.
