Description
DRILLING, GROUTING AND CUTOFF WALL INDUSTRY DAY for Clearwater Dam Major Rehabilitation, Missouri. The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has conducted national market research by holding a Industry Forum to seek Industrial capability and input into how to approach the project consisting of construction of a positive seepage cutoff wall at Clearwater Dam in Southeast Missouri. Seepage has been evident at Clearwater Dam dating back to its completion in the 1940s, and several projects have been constr ucted throughout its life to attempt to control seepage. In January 2003, a sinkhole appeared in the upstream face of the dam, emphasizing the need to control seepage under and through the dam. A drilling and grouting program was implemented in the immed iate vicinity of the sinkhole, and was completed in Spring 2005. The Major Rehabilitation Project (Cutoff Wall) project will be conducted in two phases. Phase I consists of exploratory drilling and grouting along the entire length of the proposed cutoff wall location. This type of work is highly technical in nature and will provide enormous amounts of valuable data to be used in the design and construction of the proposed cutoff wall (Phase II). Related to this effort are several other work items that w ill be accomplished for Phase I, including clearing and grubbing, work platform and access road construction, excavation and fill placement, and establishing turf. Phase II will consist of construction of the cutoff wall, the length and depth of which wil l be determined, in part, by the data gathered during Phase I. Phase II will include construction of additional work platform, as dictated by the work method by the selected contractor, and restoring the site upon completion of the cutoff wall. This program is not restricted and is open to both large and small business participation under NAICS codes 237 Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction (237990) and Specialty Trade Contractors (238190, 238910, 238990). This announcement is being broadcas ted to several of the above NAICS codes to ensure that it has the widest dissemination as possible. It is intended to reach as many interested parties as possible. The Industry Day Forum will be held: September 15, 2005 in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Little Rock District office, 700 W. Capital Avenue, DE Conference Room, 7th Floor. The Forums will Start Promptly at 1:00 PM and end at 4:00 PM LOCAL TIME. Assembly w ill take place starting at 12:30 PM. You are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to register yourself and any other participants from your firm (THERE IS NO FEE). This may be done by emailing Dudley Smith at Dudley.A.Smith@us.army.mil. The email must contain the followi ng information: Firm Name, Firm Address, POC Information, Are you a Joint Venture? Will your firm be attending the Industry Forum? Number of attendees, the Names of those individuals attending, email addresses, and Phone numbers. USACE encourages small business joint ventures or team arrangements. SBA has provided flexibility for two or more small businesses to form a contract team for the purpose of competing for a contract while still maintaining small business status even thoug h the team as a whole would exceed the designated small business size standard for the procurement. Obtain additional information and guidance from your Small Business Administrative Office. Point of Contact Email your questions to US Army Engineer District, Little Rock at Dudley.A.Smith@us.army.mil.
