- Description
- This is a modification to the synopsis entitled GANTRY STYLE CNC ROUTER, SOLICITATION #NNG05019805L, which was posted on August 5, 2005. The purpose of this modification is to address vendor questions. The questions and the answer to these questions are as follows: Capabilities: (Q) 1. Is the 4th axis device for the 8" rotary axis as described later or is this for an axis used to rotate around the Z axis? (A) 1. The machine control should be capable of full 4th axis simulaneous milling as well as positional indexing, the machine should have a separate hard wired interface capable of plug and play for both brushless 4th axis rotary tables and brushless indexers and should use standard ISO G-Code programing to drive the "A" axis. (Q) 2. Are you requesting an aggregate for tapping or are you just interested in the control having the capacity to perform this function? (A) 2. The control should be capable of tapping using Standard G-code programming, i.e G84. (Q) 3. What horsepower do you need for this spindle? (What feed rates are you expecting? What material are you working with? (A) 3. MAX feed rate are 800 IPM feed/800x 2100y z1100 rapids. Carbon composites and misc materials (Q) 4. What does spindle orientation mean (A) 4. Spindle oriention via a M function via ISO G code i.e. M19 with a P value for angle. (Q) 5. Are you needing a 5 axis solution? (A) 5. No (Q) 6. One button return - what do you want to return to, home, profile, etc? (A) 6. Home (Q) 7. Electronic thermal compensation - Please be more specific why this is necessary and what your expectations are with this type of feature. Are you trying to maintain certain tolerances? (A) 7. This feature applies to ballscrews and torque applied to them as a means of maintaining greater accuracy in the positioning of the machine axes. Tolerances of +/-.002 with a repeatability of +/-.001 over the full travels of the work envelope is the goal. Accessories: (Q) 8. What type of layout do you need the vacuum zones in; quadrant or other (A) 8. Quadrant independently controlled. (Q) 9. What type of vacuum application are you trying to perform, nested base or independent fixtures (A) 9. Various types depending on application (Q) 10. What dimension part is needed to be machined in this fixture (A) 10. Various sizes relative to the work envelope. (Q) 11. How do you want the rotary device mounted; on the table, on a side platform off the tables? (A) 11. We will develop final mounting method here (Q) 12. Will it need to be frequently removed? (A) 12. Possibly. (Q) 13. Please clarify. As it can be offered as a spindle blow-off device which is controlled via M codes in the program or MDI mode. This is mounted to the spindle motor and is adjustable. (A) 13. As listed with the inclusion of a "cold gun" instead of just a blow off device. Miscellaneous: (Q) 14. Please clarify "vacuum chuck table". (A) 14. Provide a turnkey solution for the vacuum table including interfacing with the machine control and mounting and alignment of the vacuum table to the machine. (Statement) 15. All site preparation (electrical, plumbing, masonry) will be the responsibility of the customer. (Response) 15. We will proved electrical power and air lines to the machine, vendor will be responsible for final hookup and installation.) Training: (Q) 16. What are NASA/GSFC's requirements for training. (A) 16. Training should be for multiple personnel at our facility. Electrical Requirements: (Statement) 17. The US doesn't offer 50Hz power. The range of 200-250 needs to be specified before installation 208/220/240). (Response) 17. Voltage to be compliant with US specifications Additional Comments: (Q) 18. Please define the largest OA dimension of the parts to be machined on the machine. (A) 18. Parts will be within the specified work envelope (Q) 19. Please describe the type of material you wish to machine on this equipment. How do you plan to fixture your parts? (A) 19. Various types of materials and geometries fixtures as appropriate. The due date for responses is extended to August 23, 2005. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
