Description

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Pfeiffer Vacuum Inc., in Nashua, NH for the purchase of Pfeiffer equipment, spare parts, controllers, and pumps for existing Pfeiffer equipment and an upgrade to an existing Pfeiffer Turbopump (Model # TPU 170).*** ***The required equipment and spare parts will be used to upgrade and interchange with existing Pfeiffer Vacuum equipment. This is a sole source requirement based on the fact the upgrade parts must be 100 percent compatible/interchangeable with the existing equipment. No other manufacturer has the proprietary technology necessary to successfully upgrade this equipment. Pfeiffer Vacuum Inc. is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment.*** ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333314, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 31, 2005.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
