Description

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Carl Zeiss Microimaging Inc. in Thornwood, NY for the purchase a microscope and related accessories. The required equipment must be compatible and interchangeable with NIST?s existing Carl Zeiss Microscope, Model # Axiovert 200.*** ***Sole Source is determined based on the following: The microscope and accessories manufactured by Carl Zeiss are the only items that are 100% compatible and interchangeable with NIST?s existing Axiovert microscope. Carl Zeiss Microimaging Inc., is the sole manufacturer and distributor for this required microscope.*** ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days after receipt of order.*** ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 339111, and the size standard is 500 employees.*** ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by August 31, 2005.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
