Description
NASA/JSC has a requirement for an Atomic Force Microscope with nano-manipulation ability. This product is used by the Biomedical Systems Division at JSC for Analysis and Development of nano-scale Biomedical Devices. The system and scan head shall meet the following minimum requirements: Overall System: 1. System shall demonstrate the capability to consistently, and repeatedly, manipulate nano-matter with accuracy and precision. 2. System shall be capable of handling a sample size of at least 50mm x 50mm x20mm 3. System shall, at a minimum, provide the following scan modes: a. Contact Mode; b. Tapping Mode; c. Lateral Force Microscopy; d. Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. 4. System shall isolate samples from vibration. 5. System shall have an optical resolution down to 1 micrometer for view of the cantilever probe and sample surface prior to actual sampling. 6. System shall have software for the processing and manipulation of data. Data output shall be in an non-proprietary format. Scan Head: 1. Scan head shall have resolution on the Z axis of 0.05nm or better. 2. Scan head shall have a range along the Z axis of 1.55?m or better. 3. Scan head shall accept a non-proprietary cantilever probe. 4. Scan head shall have a universal mount for all major manufacturers of cantilever probes. 5. Scan head shall automatically align the cantilever probe head. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than 3:00pm CST on August 26, 2005. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B".
