- Description
- NASA/JSC has a requirement for an Atomic Force Microscope with nano-manipulation ability. This product is used by the Biomedical Systems Division at JSC for Analysis and Development of nano-scale Biomedical Devices. The system and scan head shall meet the following minimum requirements: Overall System: 1. System shall demonstrate the capability to consistently, and repeatedly, manipulate nano-matter with accuracy and precision. 2. System shall be capable of handling a sample size of at least 50mm x 50mm x20mm 3. System shall, at a minimum, provide the following scan modes: a. Contact Mode; b. Tapping Mode; c. Lateral Force Microscopy; d. Scanning Tunneling Microscopy. 4. System shall isolate samples from vibration. 5. System shall have an optical resolution down to 1 micrometer for view of the cantilever probe and sample surface prior to actual sampling. 6. System shall have software for the processing and manipulation of data. Data output shall be in an non-proprietary format. Scan Head: 1. Scan head shall have resolution on the Z axis of 0.05nm or better. 2. Scan head shall have a range along the Z axis of 1.55?m or better. 3. Scan head shall accept a non-proprietary cantilever probe. 4. Scan head shall have a universal mount for all major manufacturers of cantilever probes. 5. Scan head shall automatically align the cantilever probe head.
