- NASA/KSC has a requirement for 20 each desktop speakers and 20 each rackmount speakers with the following specifications: 1. The speaker monitor module assembly shall provide amplification, to an external audio signal, suitable to power an internal driver. 2. The speaker monitor module assembly shall be available in two types, a desktop model, with rubber mounting feet, and a 19? rack mount model. 3. The desktop speaker monitor module assembly shall have the following overall dimensions, sloped fronts are acceptable: a. Width: 6.75? maximum b. Height front (sloped): 1.75? maximum c. Height rear (sloped): 3.25? maximum d. Height (not sloped): 6.00? maximum e. Depth: 5.00? maximum 4. The dimensions of the rack mount speaker monitor module assembly shall be: a. Width: 19? - rack mountable b. Height: 3.5? - 2RU maximum c. Depth: 4? maximum 5. Both types of speakers shall have the following electrical and physical specifications: a. Sound Pressure Level (SPL) C-weighted rating of at least 85dB at a distance of 1 meter b. Power output of 0./4 watts minimum (undistorted ) at 1kHz. c. Input level range of -40dBm to +5dBm (@ 600 ohms) d. Input impedance of 2400 ohms, +/- 10 percent (high input) and 600 ohms, +/- 10 percent (low input) e. Harmonic distortion of less than 2 percent @ 1kHz and 0.2 watts output. f. Operating temperature range of 32?F to 120?F 6. Both types of speaker monitor modules shall have the following features: a. Volume control with an integrated On/Off switch b. Audio selector switch capable of selecting one of two audio sources for input to the power amp. Switch positions labeled LEFT and RIGHT. c. Front panel LED visual on/off indicator. d. Automatic Gain Control(AGC) which can be disabled optionally e. Speaker Mute control from an external mute signal (active low) 7. The rack mount speaker monitor module assembly front panel shall contain the speaker grill, Volume/On-Off switch, and the Left/Right audio selector switch. 8. The rack mount speaker monitor module assembly rear panel shall contain the external interface connector and a ground stud binding post, part number BP30GP10 or equivalent. 9. The rack mount speaker monitor module assembly shall provide an external interface utilizing a circular connector part number MS3110P12-10P. 10. The desktop speaker monitor module assembly shall provide an external interface cable with the following characteristics: a. Part number 6015 or equivalent b. 10 foot length, minimum c. 4 pair 22 AWG d. MS3116P12-10P connector 11. The speaker monitor module assembly (rack mount and desktop) external interface connector shall have the following pin-out: a. Pin A - Shield/Chassis Gnd b. Pin B - Remote Function (RMF) c. Pin C - Right Audio (RAUD) d. Pin D - Neg. 48 VDC Power (-48V) e. Pin E - Shield/Chassis Gnd f. Pin F - Pos 48 VDC Power (+48V) g. Pin G - Left Audio (LAUD) h. Pin H - Mute i. Pin J - Audio Common j. Pin K - Shield/ Chassis Gnd 12. Both types of speaker monitor modules shall accept power through the external interface connector. 13. Both types of speaker monitor modules shall operate from a 48V DC voltage source. 14. Both types of speaker monitor modules shall be equipped with circuit protection devices that provide protection from over-current and over-voltage conditions. NASA/KSC intends to purchase the items from Charles Industries, LTD of Rolling Meadows, IL. Charles Industries, LTD is the only known company that can meet the required specifications. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Jaime L. Dempsey, Mail Code: OP-MS, Kennedy Space Center, FL 32899 or Jaime.Dempsey@nasa.gov not later than 2:00 p.m. local time on September 1, 2005. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
