Description

The purpose of this modification to the Request for Information for Force Readiness Support Services is to respond to a question that has been raised. The date for submission of responses is unchanged as a result of this modification. Question 1: Can we obtain more information on the block upgrade to Oracle 10g and Solaris 10? Response: The Force Readiness mission application is a "system within a system" (or is a member of a "family of systems") that provide the Department of Defense (DoD) with its command and control capability. This overarching command and control capability is call Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J). Force Readiness is but one of many mission applications that reside under the GCCS-J "umbrella." The GCCS-J establishes the common operating environment upon which all mission applications must reside. As stated previously, Force Readiness is the authoritative system-of-record database for tracking the status (quality and quantity) of all equipment and personnel assigned to a formal UIC. In Block V, the GCCS-J Common Operating Environment will include Solaris 10 and Oracle 10g. The Force Readiness mission application (consisting of the input tool, output tool, and database) must be able to reside upon this foundational common operating environment.
