Description
The Marine Corps is interested in vendors that offer ballistic protection glass for use in viewing ports at Hand Grenade training ranges. The following information makes up the M67 Fragmentation Hand Grenade. This request is for the viewing port glass to withstand numerous high velocity fragmentation strikes without obstructing the view through the window. The glass must not crack, chip or break in any manner. FRAGMENTATION HAND GRENADES The following is a description of the M67 fragmentation hand grenade. a. Body. The body is a steel sphere. b. Filler. The filler has 6.5 ounces of Composition B. c. Fuze. The fuze is an M213. d. Weight. The grenade weighs 14 ounces. e. Capabilities. The average soldier can throw the M67 grenade 35meters effectively. The effective casualty-producing radius is 15 meters and the killing radius is 5 meters. It is requested that any vendor that meets the established criteria provide for verification, your specification sheet and any test data to include the name of the laboratory that conducted the test. For further testing and military certification a sample may be required. This request for information in no way implies either implicitly or explicitly that respondents will be compensated in any way by the US Government for information or materials provided. It does not constitute a solicitation and should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the US Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. All information provided becomes USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. All interested potential offerors shall submit an email request to Mr. John E. Lynch or Mr. Robert Ledyard, to be placed on bidders list for future correspondence and documentation.
