Description
The National Science Foundation Office of Legislative and Public Affairs intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the complete research, treatment, scripting and production of a 10-15 minute video on plant genome research. BACKGROUND: For centuries, farmers and growers have been employing breeding procedures to enhance certain desired characteristics in the crops they produce. By understanding plants? genetic structures, the same (or better) results may be attained more efficiently. Today, plant biologists are unlocking the mysteries of plant genome structures and functions. Plant genome research holds enormous promise for solving global problems in agriculture, health, energy, and environmental protection. SCOPE OF REQUIREMENT: NSF seeks to produce a creative video on the importance of the plant genome research effort toward improving life in the U.S. and around the world. The video must tell the story in a way that is compelling, entertaining, inspiring and intelligible to students in 7th-12th grade, as well as to a general adult audience. This procurement is issued on a competitive basis to qualified businesses. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer in response to the RFP, which shall be considered by the agency. This synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government or as a Request for Proposal. No contract will be awarded resultant of this notice. Oral communications and facsimile responses are not authorized. All questions must be submitted electronically to the National Science Foundation, Attn: Jillian Pate, Contract Specialist, Division of Contracts and Complex Agreements, at jpate@nsf.gov. The anticipated contract start date will be the first part of November 2005. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about August 22, 2005 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about September 19, 2005.
