Description: The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to award a contract on a sole-source basis to Avaya, Norcross, GA, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, for the preventive maintenance and emergency service of Avaya equipment located in Building 503 of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). Avaya developed the Definity PBX Switch and is the sole proprietor of this telephone communications equipment being used at WRAIR and the Navy Medical Research Center (NMRC). This se rvice will include the installation, repair, maintenance, phone number changes, moving of telephones within offices, and any other related service to this telephone communications equipment. The contractor will furnish all replacement parts, labor, and tr avel costs necessary to perform preventive maintenance and emergency repair service 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The contractor will respond to requests for repair service within three (3) hours of the request. The contractor wil l provide all software upgrades and patches for the telephone switch and recommend hardware upgrades for the telephone switch. USAMRAA intends to award this requirement under Simplified Acquisition Procedures. A firm-fixed-price-type award is planned. T he period of performance is a 12-month base period and four option years.
