Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b) (1) with TSI Incorporated of Shoreview, MN for the purchase of a TSI Incorporated modified Ultrafine Condensation Particle Counter (Model No. 3025A) to interface directly with a modified TSI Incorporated Electrostatic Classifiers Model 3080 that is currently in use at the NIST facility in Gaithersburg, MD. The required equipment will be used to interface with existing modified TSI Incorporated equipment. This is a sole source requirement based on the fact that the interfacing parts must be 100 percent compatible. No other manufacturer has the proprietary technology necessary to successfully provide this equipment. TSI Incorporated is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment. Delivery shall be FOB Destination to the NIST facility located in Gaithersburg, MD, and shall be delivered within six (6) weeks of after receipt of order. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334515, and the size standard is 500 employees. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however the Government will consider responses received by September 3, 2005. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
