Description

*** The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b) (1), with California Analytical Instruments, Inc. (CAI) located in Orange, CA for the purchase of one (1) CAI Model No. 602P Paramagnetic Oxygen unit. The unit purchased will be used to serve as a backup unit to the existing CAI Model No. 602P units that are currently in operation at the NIST facility, and it may be used in tandem with the existing units for experimental projects. Therefore, the unit must be 100 percent compatible and 100 percent interchangeable with NIST?s existing CAI Model No. 602P Paramagnetic Oxygen units. *** *** Sole Source is determined based on the following: The CAI Paramagnetic Oxygen Model No. 602P is the only item that is 100 percent compatible and 100 percent interchangeable with NIST?s existing CAI Paramagnetic Oxygen Model No. 602P units. CAI is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this particular item. *** *** Delivery shall be FOB Destination to the NIST facility in Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within six (6) weeks after receipt of order. *** *** The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334513 with a size standard of 500 employees. *** *** No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations, however the Government will consider responses received by September 3, 2005. *** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
