Description
Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), managing contractor of the Savannah River Site (SRS), near Aiken, South Carolina, for the U.S. Department of Energy, is soliciting expressions of interest from companies wishing to license or enter into a Funds-In Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to further develop a Dry/Wet Pneumatic Powered Waste High Lift Conveyance System. Scientists at the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) have developed a device that is a pneumatic conveyance system that is capable of dislodging, capturing, and conveying solid material, wet or dry, from a depth of 70 feet. This device relies on pneumatic ?push? technology rather than the ?suction? technology that has been traditionally used in pneumatic conveyance devices. While suction devices create high vacuum at the expense of high air consumption, this device utilizes a different design which creates a significantly stronger ?push? on material and better material conveyance. The advantage of this device over similar suction devices is its performance. It provides the capability to carry the material to heights of 70 plus feet; suction devices are limited to 25 feet. Any company interested in licensing this device or participating in a Funds-In CRADA must respond with a letter of interest (may be submitted by email) no later than September 26, 2005, summarizing the company?s business and technical expertise and motivation for pursuing this opportunity. Qualified companies will be provided with further information on the technology. Questions and expressions of interest may be addressed to John H. Olschon, telephone (803) 725-8125; fax: (803) 725-4988; email: john.olschon@srs.gov; or address: Westinghouse Savannah River Company, Building 773-41A, Room #276, Aiken, SC 29808. This is not a procurement; it is a request for parties interested in a Licensing this invention or participating in a Funds-In CRADA only.
