Description
US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Vion Corporation of Washington, DC for an additional Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) previously purchased from Hitachi. Hitachi owns all rights to the HDS DASD subsystems. The storage purchase will be from Vion Corporation, who is currently the only authorized Service Providor of HDS labeled Enterprise products into the Federal Government. Vion is authorized to install, maintain, and support all HDS products in secure and non-secure Government locations and is currently the only GSA schedule holder for HDS labeled Enterprise products, maintenance, and services ***Sole Source determination is based on the need for the Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) to maintain absolute compatibility with CBP?s existing standard architecture for mission critical system performance with regard to disaster recovery point and time objectives and CBP information back up plans. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Washington, DC, and is required within 30 days after receipt of order. ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 541519, and the size standard is 21 million dollars. **The Government intends to solicit and negotiate directly with Vion Corporation. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities must be submitted in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the Government to determine if the party can perform the requirement. A determination to compete this action based on the responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. All interested parties must express their interest and capabilities in writing via mail, facsimile, or email. Documents over 10 pages total will not be accepted by facsimile. Verifications of receipt of responses are the sole responsibility of the contractor. If no responsive statements are received by September 2, 2005 at 3:00 pm EST, an award shall be made to Vion Corporation.
