Description

This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities(FBO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line(NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. NUWCDIV Newport intends to place a Fixed Price sole source contract with TEAC America for the following items: 1 ea. GX-1 Main Unit; 1 ea. GX-AIT Data Storage Tape Drive; 1 ea. AU-GXEPIO Expansion Unit; and 26 ea. AR-GXPA Amplifier Modules. This equipment is used for recording data from shock and vibration tests. The basis for the sole source is that this procurement is a direct replacement for the instrumentation used on previous shock and vibration tests and also an upgrade to the current system to acquire more data channels. NUWC has developed software to acquire and post process data from there machines, which would be costly and time consuming to redo for another system. The TEAC GX-1 recorder is the only system that would enable direct comparison of the data acquired on the previous tests using the same model of recorder. The proposed action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source using SAP and commercial item procedures as set forth in FAR Parts 12 and 13. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received by the closing date will be considered by the Government. A determination not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
