Description

The USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (the Center) intends to award a 5-year IDIQ contract on a sole source basis, not to exceed $600,000, to The American Dietetic Association (ADA) to procure special services needed to develop and maintain an evidence-based electronic library for use by the 2010 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC). This is NOT a formal request for proposals. By creating an evidence-based library, the Center will enable future members of the DGAC to prepare evidence-based dietary guidelines using a thorough, comprehensive examination of the scientific literature through a transparent method of evaluating research and allowing other individuals to use the same process and come to the same conclusions. The government has determined that The American Dietetic Association and its technical staff is 1) the accepted source with technical expertise in the nutrition arena for designing an evidence analysis system, and 2) qualified to train and consult professionals on evidence-based methods to rank and summarize the best available scientific research on dietetics, nutrition and physical activity for national dietary guidelines. Firms/organizations meeting the same qualifications as ADA can contact the Agency no later than COB September 7, 2005 with information which demonstrates the equivalent expertise.
