- Description
- The Department of Anesthesia and Surgical Serivices provides support for numerous protocols with surgical componenets as well as surgical support for patient care. The current operative caseload includes thoriacic, neurological, oncological, urological, opthalmologic, perfusion protocol and transplant. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing the anesthetic care plan in concert with the surgeon and the requirements of the transplant protocols, as well as the operative plan of care and call responsibilites. Continuous physiological monitoriing and management of the anesthetic state of patients through administration of pharmacological agents and fluids is provided. Emergent care for ventilatory or cardiac difficulties is also provided. The post-anesthesia state is monitoried to prevent complications and ensure pain management. The selected vendor will perform all services onsite and work under the direction of Zena Quezado, MD, Chief, DASS, CC, NIH. The vendor must be able to serve as a staff anesthesiologist, and handle the responsibility of renal/pancreas transplant call and handle any operating room or emergent situation if called in to the operating room for anesthesia services. This vendor services will be called primarily used for calls on the weekends and nights. However, we might occasionally use the vendor during the weekdays to vocer emergency and holiday leave. The service will begin January 3, 2005 and will end September 30, 2005 or sooner if services are no longer necessary. The physician will be liscened with board certification in anesthesiology. The physician will have documented professional liability insurance. The physician will be in appropriate operating room attire and ready to work if called in to perform anesthesiology services for the transplant service. There will be no over-time. The physician must be competent to use standard anesthesia equipment. The physician must be competent to adminster a full range of anestheics and drugs for full patient care. The physician must report for duty with current physician license, proof of negative TB test, documentation of Hepatitis B vaccinations and references as requested.
