Description

Provide services for the History of The Information Technology Laboratory (ITL). 1. GENERAL. The contractor shall perform research to collect, organize, analyze, synthesize, express, and illustrate the institutional experience of the U.S. Army Engine er Research and Development Center (ERDC) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL), located in Vicksburg, Mississippi. This will consist of a comprehensive, well-documented historical narrative that discusses the evolution of the organizational, research, a nd investigative activities of ITL. This product will identify and describe in detail the important activities and events relating to ITL from its establishment at the Waterways Experiment Station (WES) site of ERDC on July 1, 1986 through Jul 1, 2005. 2. CONCEPT. The history must cover all major subjects and themes essential to the evolution of ITL. 2.1 Content. The narrative shall include, but not be limited to a brief history of WES and ERDC and their significance in the Corps of Engineers research an d development mission; a brief discussion of the origins and evolution of specific fields of information technology engaged in by ITL; the origins of ITL and the roles of key personnel in establishing and standing-up the ITL; the influence of the Corps of Engineers and national needs on the evolution of the mission and programs of ITL; the contributions of ITL to the Corps of Engineers and to information technology; and accounts and analyses of major initiatives engaged in by ITL.
