Description

The Department of Commerce (DoC), National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS) in Silver Spring, MD intends to entire into a sole source agreement with 12Planet, Inc. from Lexington, MA for enhancements of the Chat Server software being utilized by the NWS forecaster offices. The Chat Server software is 12Planet proprietary software. The NWS purchased the software in February 2003. In order to meet the NWS performance needs, 12Planet needed to modify their commercial product. 12 Planet will be providing high priority and medium priority enhancements to the commercial Chat Server software. Included in the enhancements are software development and 1-year software maintenance. It is not the NOAA/NWS intent to compete this requirement because this commercial software was modified to meet the NWS needs. However, interested parties can submit written responses that demonstrate their ability to support chat server software. Request you submit your written responses to Anita Middleton via e-mail at Anita.R.Middleton@noaa.gov by August 16, 2005, 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. Based on the responses, the Government will decide weather or not to open this requirement to competition. The NWS Acquisition Division intends to issue a firm-fixed price purchase order in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items.
