- Repair and Alterations project, Athens, Georgia. A site visit was held at the U.S. Courthouse & Post Office, Athens, GA. on August 19, 2005. The following firms were represented: Morley Environmental, Alpharetta, GA, 770-569-1100; Top Painting, Hampton, VA, 757-865-1681; NMCC, Crestview, FL, 850-423-0446; GT Painting and Construction, Hopewell, VA, 804-458-8540; Vastec Group Inc., Augusta, GA, 706-828-6502. The following answers were provided to questions raised: 1. Door openings 212 & 212A call for both a Folger Adam Electro Mechanical Lock and Magnetic lock. See specifications section #11194, Security Door Hardware, Hardware Schedule. 2. Several notes on Sheet A-116 call for systems to be connected a control center. Is this the existing control center in the first floor lobby per note on Sheet ES-112? Answer=YES. The existing Control Center may need to be expanded to accept added systems. 3. There is reference to magnetic lock control panels in Remarks Note 10 serving doors 212 & 212A located in Sallyport 206 and in Corridor 212 adjacent to the Courtroom Door. These controls shall be provided by the GC and tied into the existing Control Center. All new locks/devices are to be controlled at the existing Control Center. A door control system shall operate all detention doors in the building. A new direct control system will be installed if the existing door control system cannot be expanded to accommodate the new controls. 4. GSA will make available space for a jobsite office & storage (1,185SF) and restrooms in the basement of the building. The contractor is responsible for securing these areas, providing access to GSA staff, and maintenance of the space including maintaining the restrooms in a clean and sanitary manner. The contractor shall be required to provide temporary electrical service for the duration of the project. 5. GSA shall provide room for one dumpster to be located at the top of the exterior basement stairs which shall either be emptied daily or secured after hours. 6. There is no on site parking available. 7. Abate all lead based paint from the interior and exterior of all windows (heads, sills, and jambs) and from all exterior doors (frames and trim) as identified in drawings. See Sheet A1.0 note D. 8. Proposals shall separate the USMS build out cost from the window restoration, lightning protection, and generator replacement. 9. Extend height of Interview Window per Elevation 5, Sheet a-401 to a maximum of 18" below the finished ceiling. 10. Correction: "Fast Response Sprinkler" shall read "Quick Response Sprinkler" in the Drawings and Specifications. 11. Section 15500 - Sprinkler System, 2.02.A: The sprinkler piping must be rated at a minimum of 175 psi. 12. Section 15500 - Sprinkler System, 2.05.C.2: Change Sprinkler Style to Extended Coverage Detention Sidewall Sprinkler. 13. Clarification: All through wall penetrations shown in drawings (Sheet M-112) shall attain a 1 1/2 hour fire rating and include both fire and smoke dampers.
