Description
The synopsis is amended to answer questions from potential offerors. The questions and answers are as follows: 1. Regarding the break out panels, the Elephant Trunk Protector on the outside is unclear. Is this just a rubber flap that hangs down? How does it fasten? The elephant trunk is a sleeve made of two layers of a canvas type material. The inner layer is metalized, the outer layer is black. The trunk is held in place by a frame to the outside wall of another frame which has been welded to the trailer. A sealing gasket may also be needed under the frame. The bottom end of the elephant trunk has a draw string to narrow the opening. 2. Regarding the break out panels, in the lower part of the cross section you show three vertical lines/objects. What is the middle line/object, and the small rectangular item to the right? From the left to the right, the partial figure refers to the following: the first line represents the container wall which terminates under the square box. The square box is part of the frame that encompasses the whole opening to form the frame for securing the elephant trunk. The second line(s) represents the bottom section of the elephant trunk as it emerges from the bottom of the frame. The third line(s) represents the top section of the elephant trunk as it emerges from the top of the frame. 3. Regarding the array trailer structural modification, the 10' end modification is unclear. I assume it to be a 12 gauge steel extension. Is the rectangular box on the diagram a window? The 10' extension can be made of 12 gauge material if it is properly braced so that one or two men can walk on it without deflection. 10 or 11 gauge material is preferred with less bracing, however, some stiffening will be needed no matter how it is made. The rectangular box is a window. 4. Regarding the array trailer structural modification, does it penetrate the container end wall or is it just a big steel weldment that hangs on the end wall? What is the thickness of this steel? The structural modification replaces the wall. The thickness depends on the design of the bracing, which is discussed in the previous question.
