- The Ground Combat Element (GCE) Branch, Technology Division of the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) is initiating this request for information (RFI)/market research information regarding the capability of vendors to provide a self-contained projectile launching system technology capable of firing an existing fin stabilized projectile and existing spin stabilized projectiles. The system technology identified herein may be procured in the near future. This RFI/market research is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as a commitment of any kind. Any information received, in whole or in part, may be used to create the resulting acquisition strategy for the proposed requirements. Responders will not be reimbursed for any information received and are encouraged not to provide proprietary data or business sensitive information as the Government may use any information received and/or released to the public. The Government is primarily focused ! on seeking suitable commercial and non-developmental items or commercial items that can be easily modified to meet existing Government requirements. If no such commercial/non-developmental items currently exist, the Government may entertain the procurement of developmental items based on the information received as a result of this market research. Information on capable sources are sought for the following requirement: The RF/market research is in support of an advanced concept technology demonstration (ACTD) project to develop a lightweight ?gun-less? weapon system. Acceptable technology candidates must conform to the following criteria to be considered appropriate for the purposes of this ACTD. a. information provided must be on an existing technology. Respondents must be able to demonstrate that they have produced actual firing systems in the past that could fulfill the requirements of this ACTD. b. Acceptable technologies shall be able to demonstrate the ability to launch spin stabilized and fin stabilized projectiles at an operating pressure of at least 70,000 Copper Units of Pressure. c. Acceptable technologies shall be ?solid state? with no moving components involved in the actual firing of projectiles. d. Acceptable technologies shall be able to operate by an electronic interface to control the firing of projectiles. e. Acceptable technologies shall be capable of varied rates of fire selectable from semi automatic to in excess of 100,000 shots per minute. Sources capable of fully satisfying the above requirements should submit their information/expressions of interest providing the Government the necessary information to determine actual capability. At a minimum, this information should include: 1) identification of your company or organization, 2) your company's or organization's assertion of existing, full capability to meet proposed requirements, 3) business/contracts/marketing office point(s) of contact information, 4) notification of business size and/or special status and 5) any additional information that may be useful to the successful procurement of the requirements, if solicited. These expressions of interest shall adhere to a two (10) pages submission limit, plus commercial marketing information or web links and all should be submitted via email to Ira D. Patterson referencing the following tracking #9100. The information should be submitted on or before 23 September 2005. This RFI/market research announcement shou! ld not be considered a commitment of any kind by the Government and individual correspondence should not be expected in advance of any resulting pre-solicitation notice for the proposed requirements.
