- The National Cancer Institute (NCI) plans to procure on a sole source basis, EndoWrist instruments and accessories for the Government owned daVinci surgical Robotic System with Intuitive Surgical, Inc., 950 Kifer Road, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. This acquisition will be conducted under the procedures for acquiring commercial items authorized in FAR Part 12 and the authority to use simplified procedures for commercial requirements provided in FAR 13.5. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334516 and the business size standard is 500 employees. The daVinci surgical robotic system by Intuitive Surgical requires the purchase of the following: EndoWrist Instruments: 1) Large Needle Driver, 2) EndoWrist ProGrasp, 3) Bipolar Maryland Forceps, 4) Curved Scissor, 5) EndoWrist Hot Shears and, 6) Permanent Cautery Spatula. Disposable Accessories: 1) Drape, Instrument Arm, 2) Drape, Camera Arm, 3) Drape, Camera, 4) Cannula Seals and, 5) EndoWrist Hot Shears. Reusable Accessories: 1) Universal Endoscope Alignment Target, 2) Cannula, Instrument, 3) Cannula Holder, Twist, 4) Cannula Mount, Camera (Ethicon), 5) Sterile Adapter, Instrument, 6) Sterile Adapter, Camera Arm (Schoelly Camera), 7) Sterile Adapter, Camera, 8) Latching Obturator, Sharp, 9) Latching Obturator, Blunt and, 10) Wrench, Emergency Grip Release. Vision Equipment: Standard Vision: 1) Scope, 0 Degree, 2) Scope, 30 Degree, 3) Camera Head, Wide Angle, 4) Bifurcated Light Guide Cable and, 5) Illuminator Lamp Module. The Robotic systems consist of a surgeon console, patient-side cart, instruments and image processing equipment. A full range of instruments are needed to support the surgeon while operating. These Robotic instruments and accessories are FDA approved for robotic assisted minimally invasive radical prostatectomy for the surgical resection of prostate cancer. Intuitive Surgical is the only source known to the NCI that is the sole manufacturer of the EndoWrist instrument and accessories. This notice is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform the requirement. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 PM EST, on September 16, 2005. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
