- Description
- The National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), NIH MRI Research Facility (NMRF), plans to procure on a sole source basis with GE Healthcare Technologies, 3000 N. Grandview Blvd, Waukesha, WI,53188-8161 to provide VRE Reconstruction Engine upgrade for NMRF3T Scanner. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 334510 and the business size standard is 500 employees. The supplies and services herein are being procured in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures authorized by FAR Part 13. The VRE Reconstruction Engine will be used with existing 3T human MRI system. It is essential to maintain the 3T MRI system at the leading-edge of technology with timely upgrades and enhancements to critical components. Acquisition of the proposed item will allow ultra high-resolution, anatomical and high duty-cycle, functional MRI data to be acquired and reconstructed in real-time. Receiver subsystem of the 3T scanner was upgraded to a 16 channel system. As a result, the scanner can now generate image data at a very high rate. The VRE reconstruction engine upgrade will allow realtime processing of large amounts of data making very high-resolution anatomical and functional MRI studies routine. Upgrades must be capable of meeting the following specifications: 1) based on four (4) dual 2.2Ghz AMD Opteron 248 chipsets, 2)be able to process 8-channel, ASSET(X2) EPI fMRI 128X128 matrix image data acquired at 14 frames per second for 5 minutes without any delay at the end acquisition and, 3) reconstruction engine should be capable of interfacing with the existing 3T MRI system. GE Healthcare is the only known manufacturer to the NINDS researcher that can meet required upgrades for existing system. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the NINDS to determine if the party can provide the requirement. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 p.m., EDT, September 19, 2005. If you have any questions they must be submitted in writing to Renita Smith, Contract Specialist, at smithren@mail.nih.gov or by fax 301-402-4513. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
